CLUB CHAMPION 2015-2016
A big congratulations goes out to Jesse Thomas on winning the
Club Championship for the 2015-2016 season. That's three in a
row for this fine young bowler. This has not been achieved since
the late Alan Mackay did it in the early 80's. I think for memory
when the tigers last won a premiership as well. A magnificent
effort considering its hard enough to win one.
Well done Jesse.

CLUB CHAMPION 2015-2016
Congratulations goes to Gleny's Ward on winning the club championship for season 2015-2016.
Three championship wins now for this fine lady bowler, with back to back wins also a great achievement.
In a closely contested match Gleny's prevailed 25 to 19 against Helen Scully who had her first season
at the club since moving from Sebastopol Bowling Club.
Awsome Foursome
Dads Army
They say you can't beat experience. Well the proof is in the pudding.
Between the four of these guys they have played a combined total
of 2,500 games and they don't look like stopping anytime soon.
Recently they played in a pennant match together. Well done guys.
Over SIXTIES PAIRS

Going For Gold - Tim Slater
GOING FOR GOLD - TIM SLATER
Congratulations Tim on being selected in the Australians With Disabilities Team (AWD) for the next Commonwealth Games in 2014
TIM: Thanks Groucho. I was rapt
GROUCHO: I bet it was a thrill to practice with one of your idols in Mark Casey who you are pictured with here and Mathew Flapper
TIM: Yeah it was. I still keep in touch with him which is really good.
GROUCHO: What was the best tip he gave you while you were training over in Scotland
TIM: Always be up to the head and just enjoy the game
GROUCHO: When did you start playing bowls?
TIM: I started playing at the age of 13 with my father out at Waubra then came to Victoria last year in the 2012 season
GROUCHO: Gee, maybe I should have taken bowls up then rather than falling out of trees and off motor bikes and feeling like I do now
Being born with Cerebal Palsy hasn't really stopped you getting on with your life.
TIM: No I can pretty much do most things which is great
GROUCHO: So you go to Ballarat Uni
TIM: Yeah, I am studying Counselling
GROUCHO: Wow. That line of work is going to come in handy here at Victoria. You could set up an office right here and get plenty of work
as there are a few blokes here that need a bit of help.
Have you got a girlfriend at the moment?
TIM: No, I haven't. I am putting all my focus into studying and plenty of practice out on the green which is looking very good at the moment.
GROUCHO: Well congratulations once again mate and best of luck in the coming season.
TIM: Thanks Groucho. I look forward to playing with you this season seeing you are a legend around here.
GROUCHO: I know mate , thanks
So if there are any sponsors out there willing to jump on board to give him a hand to get to the Commonwealth Games just give Victoria Bowling Club a call on 03 53326242
Club Champion 2012-2013
CLUB CHAMPION 2012 - 2013
Congratulations to Jarrad Burt Club Champion for season 2012 - 2013
Jarrad began his bowls career at Webconna Bowling Club where he then went to play for Central Wendouree. He went on to play for 3 years at Essendon before being recruited this year to Victoria Bowling Club.
He defeated Andrew Panther, who was playing in his first final for the Mighty Vics 25 - 14. A terrific effort for a first year player at the club.
Jarrad then went on to play in the Champion of Champions where he lost to Greg Brown.
Well done Jarrad
alan mackay tribute
The Victoria Bowling Club deeply regrets the passing of a club legend in Alan Mackay.
Anything Macca hadn't achieved in bowls wasn't worth doing.
I was lucky enough to play with Alan in back to back Division 1 Premierships in the 90's.
It was sensational to watch him apply his trade by drawing the shot no matter how close the opposition bowl was to the cat.
Macca was always in control of the situation whatever was happening in the game.
The list goes on of his achievements in the game of bowls whether it be on the grass or playing indoor, he was a true champion of the game.
He was the Club Champion 7 times, he won 2 BRBA singles titles and played 740 games.
Alan will be sadly missed by us all
BDBD Triples Champions 2012-2103
B.D.B.D TRIPLES CHAMPIONS
Neil Capuano, Max Capuano and Alan Callow are the Triples Champions of 2012 -2013.
They defeated Brett Mahoney, Ron Ritchie and Rob Remmington in the final
and later going on to defeat Tim Rogers, Peter Bell and Glen Johnston Snr. in the final
of the Champion of Champions at City Oval Bowling Club.
They now go on to play in the last 16 at East Bendigo Bowling Club on the 11th April 2013
Good Luck boys
BDBD Fours Champions 2012-2013
The team of Jarrad Burt, Jess Thomas, Andrew Panther & Michael Cunningham are now down to the last 16 which will be played in Bendigo on April 11 -17th.
After an excellent showing at Woodend Bowling Club in very windy conditions they defeated the CHDB Fours team of Jim Lefeure, Andy Lefeure, John Seymour and skipper Toby Barker .
With some very good draw bowling and great shot selection they won 24 - 6
After lunch the boys came up the against the four of Gary Coburn, Peter Walsh, John Simmons and skipper Andy Brumby from GBD.
In a scrappy affair, they prevailed 21 - 11 in very tricky conditions.
The boys compliment each other very well and I am tipping that with an ounce of luck and good draw bowling they could go all the way.
You are looking at the State Champions of Victoria
As I previously said I did tip that they would win with a bit of luck
Congratulations boys, a mighty effort.
If Victoria Bowling Club wasn't already on the map, we certainly are now
